Social Media Slice for October 15, 2018 : FACEBOOK HACK, INSTAGRAM BADGE, SMB CYBERATTACKS

Our #MondayMotivation cover comment comes from a tweet by Charlie Mullins OBE @PimlicoPlumbers

SLICE is a M-F news digest targeted to assist Social Media Managers and Small Business Owners doing their own marketing.

LATEST FACEBOOK HACK UPDATE- FB downgrades from 50 million to 30 million access tokens stolen. Attackers could access “places lived and contact information, but also things like their friends, groups they were in, posts on their timelines, and names of people they had messaged with recently in Messenger.” More

INSTAGRAM BLUE “VERIFIED” BADGE- You want it? You don’t need to be a big brand or celebrity anymore. But the authorization process isn’t easy. Here are some tips. More

SMB CYBERATTACKS- Big company cyberattacks (FB) make the headlines but don’t be lulled into false security. Nearly 43% of malicious malware targets small to medium businesses. Are you protecting your accounts? More

FOREIGN TRAVEL SCAMS- After telling the cab driver which hotel you want to go, he “shares” with you that the hotel is closed or usually overbooked or just not a nice place and because you are a nice American, Canadian, etc., he wants to steer you some place better (for which he will get a commission).

Experienced traveler Matthew Karsten advises “Call your hotel in advance and make sure they’re open. Ask if they offer shuttle service and then schedule a pickup.” If not, tell cabbie you have a reservation. Otherwise get out and call another cab.

As a Social Media Manager or Small Business Owner, what is one of YOUR biggest pain points? Could it be the blogging process? You KNOW you need blogs for improved SEO on Google, but researching, writing, revising to include keywords, and then editing are very time-consuming tasks. Especially if it takes you THREE HOURS to write the first paragraph!

On the other hand, I can write three paragraphs just getting out of bed. Make better use of your time and tap into my over 40 years of experience as a reporter, editor, and free-lance community writer to generate your creative content. – Anthony Scialis, Managing Editor, SoMe Slice
