Consumers are more aware of and interested in shopping locally this holiday season. That is the positive pandemic projection from research by Authorize. net, a Visa solutions enterprise.
No wonder survey results show 68% of global small businesses expect the winter holiday season to be a major selling opportunity. And nearly 90% of consumers report that they plan to buy gifts as they have in the past!
Good news for brick & mortar stores in Salem, Ma.
But what’s the bad news for SMBs?
“Many who were taking legacy forms of payment before — cash or checks — now have to move to a 100 percent digital this holiday season — and that can be a pretty big shift for many small businesses,” points out Alex Burgin, VP at Authorize. net.
But it is an inevitable shift.
Burgin said in a recent interview in PYMNTS. com that the changes on display this holiday season will likely foreshadow permanent modifications to the retail landscape.
